Week 11 Recap: Big Wins, Tight Battles & Overtime Drama Continue Across the Gateway Hockey Summer League

July 27 – August 2

Another exciting week of Gateway Hockey Summer League action is in the books as teams across every division continue to battle through the heart of the summer season. Week 11 featured dominant performances, a hard-fought draw, and another thrilling overtime finish that had fans on the edge of their seats.

Here’s a look back at all the action from around the league.

2017 Division

Team Micks 12 – ETS Infrastructure 2

Team Micks exploded offensively, putting together their most complete performance of the season in a commanding 12-2 victory over ETS Infrastructure.

From the opening puck drop, Micks controlled the pace with relentless pressure and timely finishing, finding the back of the net consistently throughout the game. ETS continued to battle until the final whistle, but Team Micks’ offensive attack proved too much to contain.

2016 Division

Galbraith Wealth Management RBC 4 – Simcoe CPR Training 1

Galbraith Wealth Management RBC picked up another important victory with a strong 4-1 win over Simcoe CPR Training.

Strong defensive play and quality goaltending limited Simcoe CPR’s opportunities while Galbraith capitalized on their scoring chances to secure the three-goal victory.

Myodynamic Health 4 – Made in Mexico Restaurant & Cantina 4

One of the most entertaining games of the week came between Myodynamic Health and Made in Mexico as neither side was able to find a winner.

Both teams traded momentum throughout the contest, exchanging goals in an exciting back-and-forth battle that ultimately finished in a 4-4 draw. It was a great showcase of offensive skill and determination from both teams.

2011 Division

The Queens Hotel 6 – Leading Edge Earthworks 4

The Queens Hotel continued their strong season with a 6-4 victory over Leading Edge Earthworks.

Leading Edge stayed within striking distance for much of the game, but timely scoring and strong execution down the stretch allowed The Queens to pull away and secure another important win.

Midhurst Granite 5 – The Samples.ca 3

Midhurst Granite earned two valuable points after defeating The Samples.ca 5-3.

Both teams generated plenty of offensive opportunities, but Midhurst capitalized on key chances late in the game to build enough separation and close out the victory.

Pro / Jr Division

Moffatt’s Mazda 10 – Blue Paint Advisory 9 (OT)

If there was a Game of the Week candidate, this was it.

Moffatt’s Mazda and Blue Paint Advisory delivered another instant classic, combining for 19 goals before overtime was needed to decide a winner.

After an incredible back-and-forth contest that featured lead changes, momentum swings and highlight-reel goals, Moffatt’s Mazda found the overtime winner to escape with a thrilling 10-9 victory.

It was another reminder of just how competitive the Pro / Jr Division continues to be every single week.
